- Course objectives
- The seminar offers a summary of the development of culture and especially literature on the Ukrainian territory from 8th to 18th century (from Kievan Rus to Ukraine divided into the left- and right-bank-parts). After the course finishing students are introduced to fundamental works of the individual stages of the Ukrainian culture. They should be able to define periods of the old Ukrainian literature and identify its most important representatives and their work.By means of reading texts (in contemporary Ukrainian)they work and discuss some literary works in practice. This theoretical knowledge serves as a useful basis for the seminar on the Ukrainian literature of the 19th century.
