- Course objectives
- The main aims of the course are:
- the elementary understanding of Virgil's text - student is able to read and translate selected passages of Virgil's text
- thorough knowledge of the temporal, cultural and literary context, literary examples and the subsequent tradition of the text - Syllabus
- Metrics, translation and interpretation of the following texts:
- Virgil, Bucolics I, II, IV, X
- Virgil, Aeneid I, II, IV, VI.

- Assessment methods
- At the end of the course, written and oral final examination: analysis of the metre of a selected poem and its adequate translation from Latin. Active participation at the classes and homework are also expected. Minimum pass level of the written examination: 75%

The course is taught annually.
Credit evaluation note: Pro studenty magisterského studia platí počet kreditů 3. Pro studenty doktorského studia (latinská medievistika) platí počet kreditů 10.
