- Course objectives
- This course presents language picture of Christian world, how it changed since the first translations of the Bible to Old Church Slavonic till today´s translations to modern Slavic languages. Language analysis will take us to pre-Christian imaginations about the world around us, we will analyse evolution of these imaginations to Christian values and their reflection in language (f.e. analysis of worlds love, peace, wisdom, devil, sin, word, magic, basic elements). Is the Bible untouchable sacral text? What was and is nowadays the role of translation of sacral text? Will we see a new translation of the Lord´s prayer? Prerequisites for granting credits: active participation in discussions on given topic.
