Course objectives
The aim is to introduce students into the foundations of educational evaluation, to define and characterize main concepts and approaches of educational evaluation, to offer an insight into main areas of educational evaluation, and this way to achieve understanding of these issues by students. The focus will be on main areas of educational evaluation as follows: evaluation of educational needs, evaluation of educational programs, evaluation of textbooks, evaluation of the teaching process, evaluation of educational millieu, evaluation of educational results, evaluation by means of standards, evaluation of effects of education, evaluation of school effectiveness, evaluation on the basis of indicators, evaluation of educational research.
Learning outcomes
After completion of the course, the student should: - know and be able to explain key theories of evaluation; - know and be able to explain key principles of evaluation; - know and be able to explain practical approaches to educational evaluation; - know and be able to explain specifics of evaluation in individual areas of its use in education; - be able to propose the evaluation project in a selected area of education.
