Course objectives
The course is dedicated to the analysis of various linguistic phenomena that originate in the speech act dimension. The course will be workshop-based and individualised. Students will be provided with a general bibliography and a more specific one, based on the group of phenomena selected. Then they will be asked to carry out an analysis on corpora or a data collection, both accompanied by an analysis in the form of a final paper.
Learning outcomes
Students will explore different aspects of pragmatics, research them concretely in texts produced by speakers and analyse them on the basis of the acquired notions. They will also learn to use professional corpora, to develop ideas and research questions and to carry out projects.
