Course objectives
The main objective of the course is to develop students' individual and group research skills through the unmediated use of different tools of the discipline. Each student will be assigned a specific research topic, according to individual preferences and training needs (e.g., transcribing speech using specific software; searching for data in electronic corpora and compiling analytical records, etc.). The students will be guided in the construction of a bibliographic list, which will accompany the final work, consisting of the presentation of a research project accompanied by a reasoned data collection.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, a student will be able to: - work independently on a research topic - work in a research group - acquire competence in writing at an academic level - present research findings to a specialist audience - work with electronic archives and software for processing linguistic data - show practical skills in copy-editing and the editorial process of academic papers.

  • - Research and processing of raw linguistic data - Transcriptions according to conversational norms - other tasks to be agreed with the teacher (e.g. translation of technical texts from Czech into Italian or English) - bibliography research

  • Individualised materials agreed with the teacher
Teaching methods
Interactive seminar with field research, archival research, and collective work.
Assessment methods
Students will receive partial tasks into the process of gathering materials and will be evaluated on the basis of reports emerging from this field research.
