Course objectives
The main objective of this course is that the students get acqainted with the following linguistic disciplines: semantics, applied linguistics, gender linguistics, cognitive linguistics, didactics of Dutch, phonology and phonetics, second language acquisition. Each topic will be introduced by a lecture and the students are obliged to read selected articles and literature concerning each topic so that the topic can be discussed in the seminar. Each student will work out a presentation of a particular topic.
Learning outcomes
Students will get acquainted with selected linguistic problems that are currently being solved in the Netherlands.

Teaching methods
Class (two hours per week); within the class a combination of teacher-led activities and student-centered/group learning activities will be employed.
Assessment methods
The course will be closed with an exam the evaluation consists of - active participation in the lessons 10% - activity in the lessons and preparation for the lessons 30% - quality of the presentation (form and contents) 40% - final written test 10%
