- Course objectives
- In the real conditions of archaeological excavations the students will apply their present knowledge, primarily from the sphere of field theory and practice, geodesy and expert knowledge of material culture.
- Learning outcomes
- After the excavation in Bibracte the students will be well acquainted with research in international scientific milieu and excavation of complex stratigraphic situations. They will be able to participate in field documentation (including geodetic surveying) and process the results in GIS. They will be able to do the post-excavation treatment of the material and its basic documentation.
- Syllabus
- excavations - fieldwork and interpretation of the on-site contexts:
- - filling out the field forms (in English/French), documentation of excavated contexts (drawing, photo, total station surveying)
- Post-excavations works:
- - sorting, cleaning and inventorying of the archaeological material (artefacts)
- - drawing of artefacts and filling out the artefact forms; entering of data into the database

- Participation in archaeological field research at the oppidum of Bibracte in international science context.

- During the excavations students are supposed to participate actively and individually in preparation, documentation and exploitation of archaeological find contexts, classification and documentation of artefacts.
