Course objectives
The aim of the seminars is to acquire the skills of reading texts written in Neo-Gothic script from the 16th to the 20th century. Emphasis will be placed on the practical side of reading selected sources.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to:
- carry out a transliteration or transcription of the most common types of Neo-Gothic script;
- read the script from the most common types of records from the 16th to the 20th centuries;
- develop abbreviations and use basic palaeographic manuals

  • 1. Characteristics of Neo-Gothic script, principles of text transcription;
  • 2. - 11. reading and transcription of extracts from the 16th to the 20th century;
  • 12. transcription of a selected text
