Course objectives
The aim of the course is to achieve the B1+ level (based on the Common giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.European Framework of Reference) of English language competence.
Students can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party; can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of academic/professional subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue The course is focused on academic skills and professional language.
During the course all language skills will be practised (listening, reading, speaking, writing). Other material is used - authentic texts.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students can listen to the radio and watch documentary films, understand lextures and the main ideas of relatively complex text on both concrete and academic/professional topics, including discussions in their field of specialisation.

Teaching methods
One two-lesson seminar every week. Regular practical training of oral and written knowledge. Additional practice.
Assessment methods
Credit requirements: - Attendance (min 70%), active participation in seminars, completion of homework and assignments (100%), - Portfolio: reading a text on your field of study, resume, glossary/vocabulary for each course topic, essay, writing (internship plan + correspondence), peer evaluation of assignment (feedback). The oral part of the credit is in the form of a presentation on the assigned topic + discussion. The oral part of the credit can be taken after the submission of the portfolio assignments.
