Course objectives
Main objectives can be summarized as follows:
to understand the main trends in french novel, poetry and drama in the period from 1940 to 1968. Main discussed topics:
French modern and postmodern prose and theater of the second half of the 20th century: the stress will be put on new narrative conceptions and on the ideological and axiological tranformations.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- identify and summarize important features of French literature in the 2nd half of the 20th century;
- identify and characterize main personnalities od fr. poetry, prose and drama in the 2nd half of the 20th century;
- Write an essay (commentaire composé) comparing 2 outstanding works of this period.

Teaching methods
Lecture and seminar. In the seminar, students are supposed to have read the books on the list of compulsory readings and prepared for discussion the extracts in study materials. Paper.
Assessment methods
Credits will be assigned on the basis of fulfilling of these requirements:
Attendance at the seminar is mandatory.
The final grade will consist of the following parts (all parts must be completed, grade will be determined by the final sum of the points):
a) Active participation in class;
b) Commentary - "Commentaire composé" (in the form of a tabletop essay) (50% of final grade).
c) Oral exam consisting of a commentary on one of the excerpts from the Anthologie de la litt. fr. de la 2e moitié du XXe s., an analysis of one of the works from the list "Povinná četba - Lecture (textes analysés pendant le cours)", a definition and contextualization of one of the authors or literary movements or currents covered during the course. (50% of final grade)
