- Course objectives
- The main aim of the course is to develop the ability of students to create cataloging records of different types of documents. Students should also be oriented themselves in the structure of cataloging records. They will be familiarized with the current standards for name cataloging and will be able to use them in practice. The RDA cataloging rules and the MARC 21 format will be emphasized in the course.
- Learning outcomes
- After the course student will - be able to understand the structure of the bibliographic record - understand the main principles of the MARC 21 format - create cataloging records according to RDA cataloging rules - know the key standards for name-cataloging used in the Czech Republic - be able to understand the minimal and recommended RDA/MARC 21 record for text monographic resources
