Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to illustrate the functioning of the libraries and the current trends inlibrarianship on examples of foreign libraries. Emphasis will also be put on library architecture and service design.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- compare the practice in Czech and selected foreign libraries;
- identify examples of good and bad practices and their portability possibilities into Czech libraries;
- discuss current challenges in library practice in an international context.
Syllabus
  • The focus of the content of the course is dependent on the selected country and the libraries in the given year. During the excursion, the students will be acquainted with at least one city and one academic library. In their environment, architecture, interior equipment, services and processes will be addressed. Alongside libraries, at least one other memory institution will be included in the program. For comparison with the Czech practice, a commentary of teachers will be provided.
    You will be informed about the details at the beginning of the semester.
