Course objectives
The Didactics of the Latin Language II is a follow-up course of the Didactics of the Latin Language I. It provides a practical guide to Latin teaching and an overview of methodical tools that can be used. The focus is on those concepts of Latin didactics that can be applied in students’ individual presentations for their fellows (always focused on a particular subject matter) and, later on, in teacher training courses, which take place in the 3rd and 4th semester of their studies.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to:
- choose a particular teaching concept with regard to a particular group of students and explain the choice;
- explain Latin grammar using adequate means;
- make a teaching plan for an instruction unit;
- devise achievement tests;
- conceive a project;
- prepare various teaching materials;
- propose ways of presenting the role of Latin within the European cultural context;
- use electronic materials for Latin teachers.
Students of combined studies who simultaneously study the Upper Secondary School Teacher Training in another living language will be able to use Latin in the instruction of a living language.
