- Course objectives
- main objective of the course is to acquaint students with the phenomena of interlinguistics and interlingua in sociolinguistic context.
- Learning outcomes
- at the end of the course students should be able:
to use these concepts for a deeper understanding of situations within a contact of speakers of different languages
to classify interlinguas according to their purpose and origin
to evaluate their function
to describe basic principles of auxiliary type interlingua construction
to analyse such a process from a point of view of their use. - Syllabus

- 02: interlinguas; natural and constructed, typology and classification; natural interlinguas - pidgins and creols
- 03: interlinguistics; definition & subject, its place in a system of science; connected fields of science
- 04: history of interlinguistics I.; from so-called adamic language to universal and philosophical languages
- 05: history of interlinguistics II.; from universal and philosophic languages to auxiliary languages
- 06: history of interlinguistics III.; auxiliary languages, Schleyer & volapuk
- 07: history of interlinguistics IV.; Zamenhof & esperanto, another contemporary projects of auxiliary languages

- Teaching methods
- lectures of the course will be supported by a powerpoint presentation, which will be available as a PDF file; among the teaching methods, there will also be an analysis of interligua and demonstration of its construction; active participation of students will be quite important.
- Assessment methods
- a student will be evaluated based on an essay containing elaboration of one of the following topics: A) description and analysis of a chosen natural interlingua (pidgin, creole), B) description and analysis of a chosen constructed interlingua (auxlang), C) outline of a critical construction of an interlingua (including collaborative pidgins), D) a critical analysis of the concept of a type of constructed interlingua, E) outline of the use of interlinguistics in a study of natural language and F) analysis of the impact and influence of an important person in interlinguistics. maximum extent of one part is 3-5 ns (ns=1800 characters).
in the first round, the student uploads the seminar paper to the homework vault for peer evaluation (each paper will always have one evaluator). then the student uploads the final version of the paper with possible comments from the evaluator implemented, and the paper will be evaluated by the teacher. - Language of instruction
