- Course objectives
- The seminar focuses on heuristics not only from a theoretical perspective as a tool of theatre historiography, but also offers concrete methodological applications of heuristics as a method.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of this seminar the student will be able to:
- learn the methodology of working with archival material;
- orientate themselves in archival collections;
- orientation in the theory of heuristics and basic models of theatre historiography
- apply knowledge of heuristic methods during research on specific theatre companies;
- independently search for material in archival collections;
- produce a working research file of archival material and a resulting file card; - Syllabus
- 1.Organizational meeting - introduction of the subject and teaching schedule
- 2. Heuristics - concepts, methodology, tools, applications (lecture)
- 3. Methodology of theatre historiography I (lecture + discussion of texts)
- 4. Methodology of theatre historiography II (lecture + discussion over texts)
- 5. Presentation of specific archival collections (e.g. Moravian Provincial Archive, Moravian Provincial Museum, Brno City Archives, etc.)
- 6. Visit to a selected memory institution
- 7.-9.Individual research work
- 10. Presentation of research results, consultation, discussion
- 11. Review of the research results to date
- 12. Presentation of research results, discussion The timetable is working and indicative, subject to change. Students will be informed of any changes at the first meeting.
