Course objectives
The seminar continues the course “Introduction to Folkloristics” and develops the professional competences obtained within the course “Introduction to Folkloristics”.
Learning outcomes
After the completion of the seminar, the students will be able to present their knowledge - based on field probes or archival research - in selected folklore expressions in the realm of music, song, dance, folk literature, folk theatre and children´s folklore.
Syllabus
  • Under the methodological leadership of a teacher, the students will acquaint themselves with practical examples of selected materials through listening, projection or their own study; based on the defined tasks they will develop their abilities to describe and present the selected themes from the realm of folkloristics in tutorials, through their own documentation and field probes. Thematically, the seminar will focus on selected folklore expressions in the realm of music, song, dance, folk literature, folk theatre and children´s folklore; attention will also be paid to the expressions of folklorism and mutual ties between this modern-day social phenomenon and traditional folk culture.
