Course objectives
The course focuses on practical cultural, social, and paralinguistic aspects of communication with people of Chinese origin. Students at the end of the course should be able to communicate and deal with model situations, which imitate future business or other negotiations.
Syllabus
  • 1. Non-verbal and paralinguistic communication 2. Communication in group 3. Gift and giving a gift 4. Food and dining 5. Cultural obstacles in communication: symbols, taboo, truth 6. Cultural obstacles in communication: hierarchies (age, position, gender)
