- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to introduce students to various areas of artistic and creative practice, design, urbanism, issues related to current philosophical thinking and their placement in the socio-political context. Emphasis is placed on connecting the academic sphere with experts from practice. At the end of the course, students will be oriented in the above areas, in relation to the field of study and their own study interest.

- The course is designed as a series of lectures by experts from various fields from social theory through urbanism to current thinking.
The JS 2022 semester is divided into four thematic sections:
(1) Podcasts and their creation
(2) The climate crisis - what to do about it and how do we talk about it
(3) Queer theory
(4) The lectures in the VIDEOGRAM series (FaVU VUT).
Due to the complexity of lectures, the course is recommended to students from the 3rd semester of study. The content of the course will be divided between lectures mediated by TIM FF MU and FaVU VUT.

- Teaching methods
- Expert lectures, discussion, team project, writing an academic essay.
- Assessment methods
- For a successful completion: (1) Submit an academic essay with a minimum of 4 NS on a topic relevant to the course - submitted by each student separately. (2) Submit a team project - submitted on behalf of the team. Reflection on team collaboration - voluntarily handed in by each student individually. Each team will have a maximum of 4 members. The team project should reflect one of the semester's themes: climate crisis; queer studies; new media art. The team project may have the following forms: - Collaborative text - bringing together all team members*to create a single experimental text - a dialogue, a manifesto - of at least 8 NS. - Podcast - annotation of the podcast series and the an episode of the podcast ("pilot episode"). - Exhibition concept - a proposal for an exhibition with topic reflecting a current social issue, including the selection of artists, works, preferred institution (gallery, museum, other space) and curatorial text. Visualization is not necessary, but appreciated. - Design through intervention - a design process consisting of identifying and exploring a problem based on research and/or interviews with stakeholders (e.g. the problem may be: the lack of green spaces in the city, unequal representation of women in academic or public administration, etc.). In the next phase, come up with a proposal for a solution to the problem or create an artifact with critical potential (both in the form of a prototype).
