Course objectives
The aims of this lecture course with supplementing home experiments is to provide overview of the IOT (internet of things) systems for measuring of various parameters in biochemestry using the electronic modules as Arduino and Raspberry Pi. It will include examples of sending experimental data using WiFi to web pages for presentation and recording, how to use Bluetooth transmissions to a smartphone functioning as a bassis for portable measuring systems. Using attractive hands-on format, the students will understand the concepts of digital electronics (sensors, AD coverters, serial communication) and overcome barriers in the programming basics (simple examples of C++, Python, HTML and PHP relevant to IOT concepts).
Learning outcomes
The student will learn basic principles of electronics useful for understanding of bioanalytical data recording and storage. The applications of microcontrollers for construction of experimental instrumentation will be demonstrated including the initial level of programming such devices. Student will understand concepts of wireless communication and developement of web pages for instrumental control and data storage.
