- - define human and environmental risk assessment methods
- apply basic methods of human and ecological risk assessment
- explain how different exposure parameters can influence final risk predictions
- define main exposure routes (oral, inhalational, dermal, dietary exposure, ...)
- characterize and quantify significant potential risks
- recognize main exposure factors, which have significant effect in total risk assessment
- interpret acceptable carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic risk level
- solve practical case study with risk quantification from define exposure scenarios. - Syllabus
- Introduction - basic concept definition: hazard, risk, risk assessment and risk management.
- Reasons of risk assessment application: local, regional and global effects, risk perception.
- Main risk assessment component: hazard identification, dose - response relationships, exposure analysis, risk characterization, risk management.
- Methods of HUMAN RISK quantification: pharmacokinetic models, carcinogenic a non-carcinogenic risk assessment methods – detail procedure, software applications (PC lecture room - RECETOX)

- Teaching methods
- Education is performed as lectures with Powerpoint prezentation. Understanding of mechanisms and consequences is emphasized. Students are frequently asked questions to think about actual topic. They are encouraged to ask questions and be in interaction with the lecturer.
- Assessment methods
- Attendance of the lectures is not mandatory but very strongly recommended for fluent understanding of the educated subjects. During the lectures, students are asked about subjects of past lecture. Final assesment (at the end of semester) is by written examination. It is 22 questions, which frequently require description, explanation or schematization of asked topic. Questions have max 2 points according to their difficulty. Total count is 44 and to pass at least 35 points are needed. Students must realize practical case study with risk quantification from define exposure scenarios (Individual Case Study).
