Course objectives
Po absolvování tohoto kurzu bude student schopen:
porozumět autentickému odbornému textu na úrovni B2 ERR
porozumět mluvenému projevu na odborné téma na úrovni B2 ERR
komunikovat na odborné téma na úrovni B2 ERR
zběžně prohlédnout text a pochopit jeho celkový význam
vyhledat v textu specifické informace
formulovat hlavní myšlenku textu
shrnovat podstatné informace
informovat o svém studiu a výzkumu
porozumět popisu pracovních / výzkumných pozic
napsat životopis na míru vybranému místu
napsat žádost o zaměstnání
vést si patřičně u konkurzu
popsat proces související se studovaným oborem
prezentovat chemická témata z více pohledů
aplikovat získané jazykové dovednosti na nová odborná témata
Learning outcomes
After the completion of the course the student should be able to:
understand authentic chemical texts at B2 level of CEFR
understand spoken discourse concerning chemical topics at B2 level of CEFR
communicate on a special topic at B2 level of CEFR
skim the text and understand its general meaning
scan the text and find a piece of specific information
formulate the main ideas of the text
summarize relevant information
inform about one´s studies and research
evaluate the relevancy of job descriptions in advertisemets
tailor one´s CV to a selected position
write a letter of job application
behave at a job interview
describe a process
present chemical topics from more than one point of view
apply the acquired skills to new chemical topics

course of English for specific purposes, text analysis, reading comprehension, listening activities, listening comprehension, discussion (in pairs, groups, plenary), simulation and role-play, peer feedback
Assessment methods
continuous assessment through assigned tasks, written credit test - the passing grade is 60%, 80% of seminar attendance is required
