- Course objectives
- Structural characteristics of plant cells with special attention to the cell wall, plastids, endoplasmatic complex and cytoskeleton. Primary and secondary meristems, cell division and diferentiation. Basic types of plant tissues, their structure and function. Basic anatomical characteristics of roots, stems and leaves. Transport of water, solutes and gases in plants, flux control. Physiologic approach to the study of metabolic processes in plants. Mineral nutrition of plants - uptake and use of nutrients. Growth processes in plants, phytohormones, external control of growth. Stress physiology: general and specific responses to stress factors.
