Course objectives
Students get advanced knowledge about organic matter behaviour in rocks and important geosystems.
Syllabus
  • Hydrocarbons: alifatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, organic acids, fats, proteins, organometl compounds. Organic reactions: photosynthesis, anaerobic and aerobic decay, reduction, polymerization and depolymerization. Carbon in rocks: igneous and matamorphic rocks, sedimentary rocks. Formation of coal, oil, organic matter in black shales.
