- Course objectives
- At the end of this advanced course students are capable to:
understand principles of some techniques of image analysis;
monitor processes connected with exchange of compounds between plant and the environment;
measure rates of important metabolic processes in plants by non-destructive methods;
evaluate impact of stress factors on plant functioning. - Syllabus

- Measurement of root respiration by oxymetric method, analysis of respiratory pathways.
- Isolation of leaf chloroplasts, tests of their activity.
- Advanced methods in measurement of plant gas exchange.
- Measurement of hydraulic resistance of xylem and the degree of xylem integration.
- The effects of toxic compounds on the activity of Hill reaction in chloroplasts.
- Effects of quantity and quality of light on the growth of plants in in vitro cultures.
- Measurements of the rate of photosynthetic processes by oxymetry and fluorometry – comparison of methods.
- Ascorbateperoxidase – determination of activity and the amount of protein.
