Learning outcomes
Written exam Basic knowledge of plant ecosystems and their changes in results of natural environment and human impact during Holocene
Syllabus
  • 1. Holocene chronostratigraphy, climatic oscillations, glacial boreholes, atmosphere composition, deglaciation, climate development at the Pleistocene / Holocene boundary and in Holocene, anthropogenic impacts;
  • 2. Dating methods: 14C, optically stimulated luminescence, thermoluminescence, dendrochronology, practical applications, laboratories;
  • 3. Plant ecosystems - ecological valency, plant strategy, zonal x azonal vegetation, climax communities, refugia - primary x secondary ecological succession, vegetation in the Last Glacial, influence of temperature and humidity increase, Holocene climatic optimum. Pleistocene end and Holocene fauna: extinction of large mammals, changes in the composition of small mammalian communities, and malacofauna; examples;
