  2. I think you should / ought to check to see if they are coming! = advisability
  3. Sir James was to have retired, but a majority on the board has persuaded him to stay on. = non-fulfilment of arrangement
  4. He is to pick me up in his car. = arrangement
  5. People shouldn’t / oughtn’t to behave like this. = duty (negative)
  6. I really think people could / might be more careful where they throw their litter! = duty with reproach
  7. Parents should / ought to look after their children. = duty   
  8. In my opinion, he should / ought to have made way for a younger man. = non-fulfilment of duty
