1. INTRODUCTION TO EMOTIONAL AND BEHAVIORAL DISORDERS

The sub-discipline of Special Education that deals with the issues of educating children who are At-risk and children with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (EBD) is called Etopedie in the Czech Republic. In accordance with the Czech perspective, Etopedie is one of the disciplines of special education that studies etiology, manifestations, and possibilities of treatment and prevention of Emotional and Behavioral Disorders from educational point of view. It has originally been part of another sub-discipline called Psychopedie, which deals with the issues of education of children with intellectual disabilities. However, in 1969 Etopedie became independent sub-discipline of special education in the Czech Republic due to the difference in encountered problems.
