Workshop 2 - "Inclusive gifted education and its contribution to a more inclusive education system" - 3.10.2023
Kathrin PLANK, Sophia PÖCHEIM (University of Passau, Germany): "Inclusive gifted education and its contribution to a more inclusive education system"
Tue, 3.10.2023, 16-17:50 (4-5:50p.m.), room 24 (Porici 31)
The disadvantage of specific groups in the formal educational system (e.g. Baumert et al. 2010, Maaz et al. 2011) also affects access to support programs for gifted and talented students in the context of diagnostics and the less diversity-sensitive design of support. Müller-Oppliger points to specific "risk groups" in the context of gifted education, "whose gifted potential often remains unrecognized" and mentions, among others, "foreign language speakers, the socially disadvantaged, and the educationally disadvantaged" (Müller-Oppliger 2020: 68).
In the workshop, we will
illustrate the essential aspects of a paradigm shift in schools using examples
from Austria and Lower Bavaria. Among other things, we will deal with the
question of what is necessary on the level of school organization, personnel
and teaching in order to meet the demands of inclusive gifted education.
