Course Objectives

In this course you will develop your academic English language and study skills within the context of Geography. Level: B1+.
Consider enrolling on JAZ04 or other alternatives offered by MU Language Center if your level is above it.

5. Specifing and defining: Cartography and Maps 
6. Word formation: Map Projections
7. Likelihood: Plate Tectonics
8. Process description: Geomorphology
9. Making comparisons: Environmental Science
10. Progress Test
11. Formality in written academic English: Academic Email 
12. Formality in spoken academic English: Mock Conference
13. Formality in spoken academic English: Mock Conference

Course Policies

Class participation (face to face): You can be absent max. twice, this includes cases of illnesses.
Materials: To study the topics, you will not buy a textbook but print out documents with materials tailored to the needs of the course. You are expected to bring them to every seminar.
Activity in the class: You are expected to interact, do homework, complete "odpovědníky", respond to discussion, give short presentations, participate in group work - success of the group work will depend on every individual and it will require high degree of responsibility.
