DIALANG is a diagnostic test. Its main purpose is to inform you about your
level and about language learning.
The test may help you decide which examination you would be able to
pass, or whether you need to study a language further before taking such a test or before enrolling in a course.
DIALANG reports your level on a scale which divides language
into 6 levels of proficiency following the CEFR (the Common European Framework
of Reference), covering the full range of proficiency from beginner to very
advanced.
We expect you to follow the university and faculty rules of academic honesty when taking the test. In other words — it is very important that you do the DIALANG tests by yourself, with no help from anyone else.
If you are worried about your English level, you might feel like asking someone else to do the tests for you — but please trust us, this would be a big mistake. Our advanced classes are based on a target CEFR level of C1 (a standard set by the faculty), and if you submit false test results, but you are not really prepared for work in English at that level, you will not succeed in the class. Instead, you will probably spend the term confused and frustrated, and you won’t make much useful progress in English.
