After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:

• have written and spoken Catalan-language competence at the C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
• have a general knowledge of the literature, culture society and politics of Catalonia and familiarity with other Catalonian-speaking regions.

Graduates with this degree are capable of complex written and oral expression in Catalan. They are equipped with a detailed knowledge of the social, political and cultural situation in Catalonia and other Catalan-speaking regions. They also have good knowledge of another selected Romance language and country of their choice. In addition to working in the fields of translating, interpreting, editing, journalism and tourism, they are well-suited for any profession that demands the ability to think independently and critically and express themselves in both their mother tongue and Catalan.

Standard length of studies 3 years, degree conferred: Bachelor (Bc.)

To access the final state exam, students must obtain a total of 180 credits for compulsory, compulsiry obtional and optional subjects.

Major and minor studies are identical in the corpus of compulsory subjects. Apart from those, students will enroll compulsory optional subjects of their field and of other romance fields. They may be completed optional subjects from the offer of the Faculty of Arts and other faculties.

In passing their studies students will follow the Catalog of their matriculation year. Access to educational catalogs of individual matriculation grade is given on the website of the faculty.

The final state examination consists of:

1) The thesis defense (only for the major);

2) Examination:

Catalan language: written reclusion work validates the practical knowledge of the language, the oral tests the knowledge and understanding of phonetics and phonology, morphology and syntax, focusing on linguistic norm;

Catalan culture and literature, oral exam tests the knowledge of historical, cultural and literary context regarding Catalonia and the Catalan Countries.
