Geometry, Topology and Global Analysis (Eng.)

Expand all the items

The doctoral degree programme in this branch focuses on the studies of differential geometry, global analysis, and algebraic topology. In accordance with the subject of the thesis students concentrate on one of these disciplines and perform an independent and detailed work in this area. An important part of the doctoral studies is an individual creative work. The main aim is to write the thesis that must contain original research results published in professional journals; therefore, the students have to obtain a thorough knowledge that enables them to understand and expand the topic of the thesis, and also gives them a broad overview of differential and algebraic topology.

The students are prepared for an independent research in mathematics or sophisticated applications of mathematical methods in other branches. They obtain a deeper knowledge especially in the chosen research specialization. Under the supervision of their tutors the students become acquainted with basic methods of scientific work in mathematics. The attention is also paid to the preparation of students for pedagogical activities at universities.

(?)

After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:

  • do independent creative research in mathematics or its applications
  • publish obtained results in foreign reviewed journals and present them at international conferences
(?)

The graduates are able to understand their narrow specializations. They are able to perform an independent scientific work. The graduates can find employment in basic or applied research and at universities.

(?)

The studies are organized according to an individual study plan.

(?)

The studies are completed with the state doctoral examination and the defence of the doctoral thesis.
