Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the three scientific disciplines, which in the preparation of future teachers bring an integrative view of the specifics of music education. This is done through knowledge of the current system of music education as well as its historical context and orientation in the principles of auditory perception and the psychological basis of music creation, perception and musicality. The musical-sociological part is represented by knowledge of the scientific subjects, research methods and research projects from the past decades.
Learning outcomes
Students have an awareness of the basics of music pedagogy, psychology and sociology. They understand its importance for future music education work. They get familiar with the current music education system and the latest trends in music education. They are qualified for the work with the tools of music psychology to improve the quality of students' musical abilities and skills and to develop their musicality. They are able to choose suitable research methods for their academic and pedagogical work and are familiar with current trends in science and research. They accept the changes in the social existence of music and the transformation of its functions in a globalized world. They understand the influence of media on the formation of attitudes towards music and the musical taste of children and young people, as well as the irreplaceable role of general music education in primary and secondary schools.
