Syllabus
  • Learning to communicate in Chinese --- writing and speaking, e.g. some radicals and their meanings, finding your way through a traditional Chinese dictionary, Chinese dialects and their impacts to communication, e.g. Mandarin, Cantonese, Hakka, Fujian/Hokkien, introduction to some Chinese idioms.
  • Chinese morphology --- is there any?
  • Introduction to elementary Chinese grammar: asking question in Chinese, passive in Chinese, exploring some self-learning Chinese web sites
  • Typing Chinese: different Chinese character codings (e.g. Big5 and GB)
  • Parsing Chinese sentences
