Course objectives
The aim of the course is to develop the competence of Ph.D. students to interpret their research problems from social and nature science and technologies from practice (for all history, philosophy, sociology, urbann and landscape planning, conservation, agriculture and other environmental sciences and skills) perspective and to communicate their findings to expert audience.
Learning outcomes
After succeeding the course, students
- evaluate contexts and differences between their own, field specific perceptions of their research problem and its interpretations based on different discourses and scientific areas;
- reflect and analyze different field perspectives of selected interdisciplinary themes related to city and landscape issues;
- reflect the strengths and weaknesses in their ability to communicate their professional findings to the professional public.

  • 5. Selected approaches of city studies. The fundamental insights into disciplines, main directions, themes, key texts, criticism
  • 6. Historical approaches: urban history and planning history. An overview of professional disciplines studying urban history, planning, urbanism, ideas, etc.
  • 7. Urban studies. History of city studies in social sciences, sociological and geographical theories of the city
  • 8. Selected approaches to researching the landscape, basic overview, methodology, history
  • 9. Environmental philosophy, environmental aesthetics and landscape 10. Sociology, geography and landscape
