Cíle předmětu
The course consists of two parts: 1) Social and Cultural Aspects of the Europeanization Process; 2) Policymaking in a European context. During this course, an attempt will be made to bridge the gap between theory and practice by giving students assignments to develop policies for an actual local policy problem. Working methods and requirements: The working methods of this course require active student participation. There will be much emphasis on interactive forms of teaching, discussions, and presentations by students. Fluency in English is imperative. Lectures are scheduled for the period May 2 - May 14, 2002.
Osnova
  • Contents: Part 1: Social and Cultural Aspects of the Europeanization Process. Here the following topics will be discussed: a) Citizenship, civil society and civic culture in a European Context; b) European Welfare States in a comparative Perspective; c) Inclusion and Exclusion in modern Europe; d) Europe in the world. Part 2: Policymaking in a European context. This part deals with the following topics: a) Participatory Policy Analysis (PPA) and its theoretical model of the policy process. This model will be depicted as the result of several historical European influences; b) Methods for policy design and implementation within PPA; c) A PPA case study: the case describes the interaction between a citizen panel to create - in interaction with experts and policy makers - a policy relevant vision of the future at the local level.
Metody hodnocení
Hodnocení kursu bude založeno na aktivní účasti ve výuce a na vypracované seminární práci.
