The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
This course is designed to help students to improve or refine their skills required to successfully study in English. The class meets in weekly sessions to undertake team, collaborative and individual activities with the aim to learn a range of fundamental aspects in six areas, namely reading, listening, speaking, writing, test taking and study soft-skills. Each section combines a summarized theoretical background of each skill area with a series of practical activities. Authentic sample texts, audios and videos are used to create controlled tasks and open-ended activities.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the participants will be able to: choose adequate strategies for reading of academic texts; listen actively to lectures and discussions, take notes; take an active part in discussions in academic contexts of their interest.

Successful completion of this course involves giving an academic presentation based on a project developed during the course; contributing to discussions in contact lessons as well as virtual forums, participating in the IS discussion forum activities.
