Course objectives
The main objective of this course is to analyse the concepts of social work, methods of social work, stages of social work, social work with a client, group, and community. Social policy and a social state as a pre-requisite for an effective social work.
Learning outcomes
The students will be able to
- use methods and techniques of social work to identify needs of the clients, groups, and communities
- connect the needs with possibilities of social state - describe possible solutions step by step
Syllabus
  • 1. Social work - basic characteristics of the field, objectives, methods and forms of social work.
  • 2.Social Services Act - Definition of Selected Services, Quality Standards of Social Services, Qualification requirements.
  • 3. Personality of a social worker (professional and personal profile, risk, supervision).
  • 4. Transformation of social services away from residential to outpatient and field services.
  • 5. Basic methods of working in social work with people with disabilities or social disadvantage.
  • 6. Counseling process (definition, phase of counseling.
  • 7. Social worker in social services, health and science.
  • 8. Ethics in social work.
