- Course objectives
- After passing the course, students will be able to explain and demonstrate basic hygiene principles, familiarise pupils with water and tackle their possible fear of it. Also, students will know how to define and apply basic pre-swimming skills necessary for the basic swimming technique and metodics later on (taking the specifics of teaching young children by means of games into account).
- Syllabus
- 1. Basic swimming terminology, swimming hygiene and safety principles, preparatory exercises on dry land 2. Preparatory exercises for introduction to and orientation in the water, floating and breathing into the water 3. Falls and dives into water, playfully and following the safety principles 4. Gradual and spontaneous introduction of the crawl, backstroke and breaststroke arm/leg movements - element swimming 5. Teaching a concert for a selected style (crawl, backstroke or breaststroke) 6. Principles of helping a tired swimmer, saving a drowning person. Individual essay on: examples of games for familiarisation with the water, tackling fear, floating, orientation in the water, breathing - according to a specific task setting - appropriate for pre-swimming preparation of pupils
