- Course objectives
- The lecture covers through selected topis the Czech literature published in the years 1945-1968. Topics are grouped into sections of poetry, prose and drama, completed with insights into literary studies of the given period. Poetry focuses on the existing groupings and the development of the work of their members after their existence came to an end (e.g. Skupina 42). The lecture does not forget the authors who wrote outside any groupings and whose work significantly contributed to the face of Czech literature (e.g. Skácel, Mikulášek). Prose and drama are handled monographically, the continuity of the literary process is documented by the similarity in the themes of some of the works (e.g. so-called second wave of the reactions to WW2, historical themes etc.), similarity in genres (e.g. a diary) or movements (surrealism, existentionalism etc.).
