Supplier department: Department of Social Education – Faculty of Education
Prerequisites (in Czech)
The creation of a new course aimed at enabling all departments of the Faculty of Education to meet a new accreditation obligation valid from September 2017 - to include in the study programs taught in Czech the so-called international component (i.e. attending English taught courses or foreign internships, studying abroad, etc.)
Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The intended course would take the maximum advantage of the visitations of foreign academics from which the Faculty of Education in not benefiting adequately on the professional side or in terms of economic efficiency. Even if top foreign experts (Fulbrightist, etc.) come to the Faculty of Education, they are available only to a few students within a particular department, and their input into the teaching (or curriculum) is usually not well thought out, prepared and integrated. The teacher of this course will thematically connect the lectures of the foreign guests planned for the corresponding semester (e.g. trends in primary education abroad). He/She should help the students to tranfer newly acquired knowledge about foreign educational trends to the Czech context and the prior knowledge, but mainly to teach them how to use the information for innovation in education in the Czech Republic. The course would consist of 4-6 guest lectures of foreign people arriving at the Faculty of Education during the given semester and workshops led by a Faculty academician. The course will be co-designed by Prof. Jos Walenkamp, who created a similar (albeit university) course at the Hague University.
