Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able: 1. to understand and explain: fundamental terms - morphology, morpheme, morph, grammatical structure of the word, criterion of the word sorts classification;
2. to distinguish the grammatical category of the nouns and of the verbs, inflected word sorts;
3. to use grammatical forms, their variants;
4. to explain the tendency of the contemporary Czech morphology;
The students get fundamental knowledge and competence of some problems of the functional and formal morphology.

  • 1. Morphological terminology. 2. Word; word meaning, word sorts. 3. Types of the morphemes. 4. Functional and formal morphology. 5. Functional morphology. Grammatical categories. 6. Formal morphology.Morphology of the nouns and verbs. 7. Uninflected word sorts. 8. The tendency of the contemporary Czech morphology.

Teaching methods
consultation - active analytical students´ work in the analysis of texts, active synthetic students´ work in the interpretation of linguistic phenomena, problem method, controlled discussion
Assessment methods
The subject is ended by a written examination. Compulsory attendance. Homework is required in the course of the term. Final written test consists of 20 questions evaluated by 20 points. Each student has to reach minimum 15 points to pass the test. After the test the student enrolls one question in the exam, assessing factual accuracy and cultivated expression.
