Course objectives
The aim of the course is the development of map and geoinformation skills, implementation of cartographic principles in the creation of maps and the development of skills of working with geoinformation technologies freely accessible mainly through the Internet (working with map servers, portals and applications) and their use in school practice.
Learning outcomes
Student are able to: master the basic theory of geoinformatics and geoinformation technologies explain the basic concepts and introduce the use of geoinformation technologies in practice and in education propose the use of geoinformation technologies in teaching geography master a number of freely available applications with understanding and advanced use of tools - map servers, Google Earth, ArcGIS Online, selected map portals and applications.
Syllabus
  • 1.Geoinformatics - introduction and basic concepts (geographical space, geographical information and its components, geographical data, definitions and specifics of geoinformatics, geoinformation technologies, use of geoinformatics and geoinformation technologies in practice and in teaching 2. Geodata, layered approach, vector and raster data, 3. Map servers, portals and other applications 3.Remote remote sensing, basic concepts, physical nature of image data, spectral behavior, orbits, satellite instrumentation GNSS - basic principles of positioning, segments of GPS systems, global navigation systems Exercises - advanced work with freely available map servers and applications (eg National geoportal Inspire and others, ČUZK, Google Earth, Mapy.cz, reading and interpretation of images in true and false colors.
