Course objectives
Main objectives can be summarized as follows:
- the students will learn about basic methods of pedagogical research
- the students will learn about basic statistical methods of evaluation of experimental data
- the students will learn about didactic tests

- the students will think about research chemical problems suitable for work of teacher and pupils at lower secondary schools
- the students will get acquainted with results of chemical research realized at lower secondary school and published in a journal or conference proceedings
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be able to:
- to work with the basic methodologies of pedagogical research
- to work with the basic statistical methods of experimental data evaluation
- apply the theory of didactic tests

- to think about chemical research, suitable for the work of teachers and pupils at elementary school
- Understand the results of chemical research carried out at elementary school, published in journals or conference proceedings
Syllabus
  • Week 1: Basic data collection methods in educational research.
  • Week 2: Basics of quantitative research: basic file and selection, selection methods, hypothesis.
  • Week 3: Theory of didactic tests.
  • Week 4: Basics of statistical processing of data.
  • Week 5: Questionnaire surveys, data processing.
  • Week 6: Qualitatively oriented research.
  • Week 7: The program for qualitative data analysis ATLAS.ti
  • Week 8: Examples of chemical research issues, suitable for the work of teachers and pupils at lower secondary school.
  • Week 9: Examples of results of chemical research carried out at lower secondary school.
  • Week 10 to 11: Work with databases ERIC, Scopus and Web of Science.
  • Week 12: Summary, consultation according to the actual needs of students.
