The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives (in Czech)
After completion of this course the student will be able to define specifics of care for people with hearing impairment from birth to end of life. The student will deepen knowledge gained in the subject called Basic in the scientific category of hearing impairment and will be able to focus on possibilities of diagnostics of hearing loss; will be able to give details of typical deviations (abnormalities ) in language development of persons with hearing impairment; will be able to rationalize difficulties in their reading comprehension and to know specifics of their writing skills; will focus on possibilities of compensation of hearing loss and specify hearing aids used by handicapped. The student also will learn the fingeralphabets, Lormalphabet and the basics of the Czech sign language on the basic niveau for conversation in the basic fields.
Learning outcomes (in Czech)
• the student knows the specifics of care for people with hearing impairment from birth to end of life; • • has the theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of education of children and pupils with hearing impairment; • • knows interpretation options from / to sign language; • • can describe how to care for communication with people with dual sensory disabilities.

Teaching methods (in Czech)
Expert text study, continuous testing, discussion of expert texts and practical examples. Processing a case study of an individual with hearing impairment as instructed by the teacher.
Assessment methods (in Czech)
During the semester, the student completes continuous testing (online) and works out a seminar paper. The topic and form will be specified by the teacher: expert text study, thought map, case study. Information will be updated in the Interactive Syllabus in the MU Information System.
