Good knowledge of Czech (at least High School Certificate or CEFR C1); good knowledge of German - at least first level exam (after the 2nd term).

Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to: understand and explain the basic terminology of translation studies and create coherent and proper translation into the contemporary Czech using: intersemiotic, intralingual, explaining balanced as well as gist translations.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course the students are supposed to be able to know the stratification of translating texts, typology of translations and basic terminology. They are also able to produce communicative translation of shorter texts.
