Course objectives
Students will use this class to practise their English and mainly develop their vocabulary by studying issues such as idioms, proverbs, collocations, etc. Activities will vary from week to week. As students are training to be teachers, they will be expected to take an active role in their own learning, with an eye toward understanding how to share information with their peers, and later their own students. Students will be able to prepare a vocabulary exercise and present it and teach it to their peers, which will be good preparation for them in the future teaching careers.
Learning outcomes
Students will have extended their knowledge of vocabulary as well as language structures; they will be able to respond to a range of topics, and ask additional questions. They will actively contribute to e-learning Moodle forums. Students should feel more confident about their own oral performance in English. They will have practised presenting and peer-reviews.
Syllabus
  • Six topical issues will be covered together with a number of grammatical aspects and chosen vocabulary areas.
