- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students will understand basic theoretical background in the field of mental health psychology and will be able to apply them in educational area. Students will be able to define and explain basic concepts, apply obtained skills in dealing with difficult life situations and in personal growth, apply these skills while working with children.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will be able to define and explain basic concepts, apply obtained skills in dealing with difficult life situations and in personal growth, apply these skills while working with children.
- Syllabus
- 1. week: Defining the subject of mental health psychology. Basic concepts of mental health psychology. Health Psychology, definition and goals. WHO, goals and programs. Defining health 2. week: Stress, Development of stress theories in medical and psychological science. Theories of Selye and Lazarus. Eustress and distress. 3. week: Difficult life situations and coping. Time management. Procrastination. 4. week: relationship between mind and body. How psychosomatic view can help to maintain our health. Resilience. Bur-out syndrome - basic theoretical background. 5. week: Burn-out syndrome - practical exercises 6. week: optimal communication. Aservative. Social support. 7. week: Subjective well-being. 8. week: Neurotic disorders. Definitions, development of the concept, defining each diagnostic categories. 9. week: Neurotic disorders - treatment and prevention. How to work with fear and anxiety in children. 10. week: Sleep. Sleep disorders and treatment. 11. week: Imagination and relaxation. 12. week: Personal growth. Self-knowledge.
