- Cíle předmětu
- The aim of this course is to provide students with a means for developing and extending their use of English with particular emphasis on English related to teaching. It focuses on the English needed in the classroom, for studying the EFL teaching and learning, for participating in teacher development and teacher-training courses, conferences, workshops etc. The framework of the course is based upon a book called Keynote Proficient, which can be purchased at the department. At the end of this course, students should have practised and improved their classroom language as well as the English used in the EFL/ESL/TEFL/TESOL theoretical discourse. They should be able to interpret materials in English for professional development of teachers and make reasoned decisions about their teaching based on theory and practice.
- Výstupy z učení
- Tento kurz poskytuje praktické využití angličtiny včetně řečových dovedností (mluvení, poslechu, čtení a psaní). Studenti budou mít příležitost zdokonalit se v používání jazyka prostřednictvím diskusí, cvičení a úkolů. Kurz nabízí různé přístupy ke studiu a výuce jazyka a zároveň rozvíjí širší porozumění metodice a kultuře anglicky mluvících zemí. Studenti se naučí analyzovat jazyk pro účely výuky a uvědomí si, že změnili svou roli - z uživatelů jazyka se stali zdrojem informací o jazyce a jazykovými modely.

- Výukové metody
- There will be seminar groups in which students will participate in pair-work, group-work and whole class-work. They will give a presentation and complete tasks for homework through Moodlinka and in the text books. In their presentation and in their forum entries they will be expected to reflect on issues observed in their teaching practice. The presentation could be used for the portfolio for the state exams.

- Completion prerequisites:
- attendance (minimum 80%);
- active participation in seminars, contribution and preparation;
- written assignment (a seminar essay);
- seminar presentation on a selected topic;
- observations

Students must pass the course with 70 %, which is made up of a potential maximum of 30 points from the continuous assessment and 70 points from the test.
Teaching methods:
- work with texts; vocabulary, grammar, skills and listening practice based on the textbook;
- class discussion over the topics on the syllabus;
- students presentations and related discussion;
- homework - study of Internet sources. The presentation could be used as an artefact for the final portfolio for the state exams (area 1: Competency 1.1: I understand the subjects I teach and continue to develop in them. I have knowledge and skills in the subjects that allow me to effectively plan and conduct teaching. I have a positive relationship to these subjects, am interested in their development and future. Credit requirements:
- attendance (minimum 80%);

- Total of at least 70 % taken from potential 30% continuous assessment and potential 70 % test
If the student is away for a semester abroad, they should complete all the requirements except attendance. In the course, the use of AI is permitted for learning but not for cheating. It is acceptable to use AI for brainstorming ideas, basic proofreading, and suggestions for improvement. It is unacceptable to have a text generated, translated or reformulated. Remember to acknowledge all innovative ideas that are not yours. For generated ideas, use in-text citations. At the end of each assignment, state how you worked/did not work with AI.
